Q. As a female, will lifting weights make me appear bulky and masculine looking?

A. Definitely not! Lifting weights under proper supervision will make you stronger and enhance your overall appearance. i.e: toning and shaping.


Q. I am a light-boned male, how long will it take for me to gain about ten pounds of muscular bodyweight?

A. This depends on how disciplined you are. Please understand that you will not gain only muscular weight at your stage. You must have a proper nutritional program including protein, carbohydrates and some fats. A progressive weight training program structured around the basic exercises, Squat, Bench-press, Overhead press, Bent-over Row, Deadlift, Barbell curl and Tricep extention. It is also important to do abdominal work to strengthen and condition your midsection. Get eight or more hours sleep every night and maintain a positive attitude.


Q. As a beginner, how many times a week should I train and how long per session?

A. Training three times per week is O.K., Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Do not exceed one hour per session. Eat health-smart foods, train hard and concentrate on proper exercise form and get plenty sleep and rest.


Q. Does training at home have any advantages or disadvantages compared to a commercial gym? I am a very disciplined person.

A. Being a disciplined person is important. Training at home does have advantages, especially if you have equipment to train all body parts efficiently. You will have far less distractions for starters, You have the option of training at your convenience. You will save money on transportation. I know of an individual (competitive bodybuilder) who achieved his best shape ever while training at home.


Q. Is there a difference between morning and evening training?

A. This depends on how high your energy level is in the A.M. or P.M. If you have the Q. Would I have to lift heavy weights to build a good physique? luxury of training at either time, give them both a try and judge for yourself.

A. The term heavy weight is relative. Use a poundage that will stimulate the muscle and enable you to maintain proper exercise form for the required number of repetitions. (six to ten reps for example).Building a good physique is more than lifting weights. It entails planned routines, rest and proper nutrition.


Q. What is the shortest time it will take for me to see noticeable results?

A. A six week program will enable you to see noticeable results. The importance of discipline is of paramount importance. Follow the advice of your instructor and you will be on you way.
